Terms of Service
Effective June 9, 2026
TL;DR: Grow a Plant is a free game. Play fair. We can suspend accounts that abuse the system. Don't sue us — but if you have to, it'll be in Washington state court.
1. Acceptance
By using Grow a Plant (the "Service"), operated by Grow a Plant ("we", "us"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
By creating an account, you represent that you are at least 13 years old. Accounts found to belong to users under 13 will be terminated and associated data permanently deleted. The Service is intended for users in the United States.
3. Account
- You sign in using Google OAuth; there is no separate password to manage.
- You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
- One account per person.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts at any time, with or without notice, for any reason — especially for cheating, abuse, or harassment.
4. The Service
- The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", with no guarantee of uptime.
- The game is free; we may add paid features later under separate terms.
- We may modify or discontinue features at any time without notice.
5. User content (display name and profile picture)
Your Google display name and avatar may be publicly displayed on the leaderboard, including in search results.
By signing in, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display your name and avatar in connection with the Service while you have an account.
You are responsible for the content of your Google profile. We reserve the right to anonymize or remove names and avatars that violate these Terms or our community guidelines, without notice.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Cheat (multiple accounts, automated tools, modifying game state, exploiting bugs).
- Use offensive, harassing, hateful, or discriminatory display names or avatars.
- Scrape, copy, frame, or reverse-engineer the Service.
- Interfere with other users' enjoyment of the Service.
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose.
7. Intellectual property
We own the Service, including its name ("Grow a Plant"), code, art, and design. Open-source components are used under their respective licenses.
You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal entertainment only.
8. DMCA / copyright complaints
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice that meets the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) to our designated agent:

Your notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed.
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material and its location on the Service.
- Your contact information.
- A good-faith statement that the use is unauthorized.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
We will remove or disable access to allegedly infringing content upon receipt of a valid notice. Accounts of repeat infringers will be terminated.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed one hundred dollars ($100). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.
This limitation does not apply to gross negligence or willful misconduct where prohibited by law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Grow a Plant harmless from any claim arising from (a) your breach of these Terms or (b) content you contribute to the Service, including your Google display name and avatar.
12. Dispute resolution
Pre-suit notice. Before filing any claim, you agree to send written notice of the dispute to [email protected] and to attempt good-faith resolution for 60 days.
Small claims. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court without prior notice if eligible.
Class action waiver. You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive any right to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or representative proceeding.
Governing law and venue. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any lawsuit shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Snohomish County, Washington.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice. You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it in Settings.
Survival: Sections 5 (User Content license), 7 (IP), 8 (DMCA), 9-12 (Disclaimers / Liability / Indemnification / Dispute Resolution), and 14-19 survive termination.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted with a new effective date and announced via email to your last known address. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Time bar on claims
Any claim arising from the Service must be filed within 1 year(s) of the event giving rise to the claim, or be forever barred.
16. Force majeure
We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, war, pandemic, internet or hosting outages, and cyberattacks.
17. Third-party links
The Service may contain advertisements and links to third-party sites. We are not responsible for their content or practices. Your use of any third-party site is governed by that site's own terms and policies.
18. Accessibility
We strive to make Grow a Plant accessible. If you experience accessibility barriers, please contact [email protected].
19. Miscellaneous
- Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest of these Terms remain in effect.
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and us.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that provision.
- Headings. Section headings are for convenience and have no legal effect.
- Notice. We may send legal notices to the email address associated with your account.
